“My husband underwent an esophageal gastrectomy 11 years ago and is now cancer free. He still relies on enteral feedings for nutrition and weighs only 85 pounds. His major complaint is fatigue but the doctors say all of his bloodwork is normal aside from being diabetic. Would he be a likely candidate for Propax and/or NT Factor?”
We have had patients use Propax and or NT Factor for enteral feeding numerous times over the years. The tablets we provide must be ground up and mixed with a liquid before being injected into the tube. Until you get a sense of the consistency be more rather than less generous with whatever liquid you use.
Our best product to use for the primary fatigue complaint is Advanced Physician NT Factor. It will give you the most concentrated dose for the fatigue purpose (clinical trial results show a 37% difference in the !st week).
Your main obstacle is that our product is inherently sticky and you could clog the tube. The second obstacle is after mixing the ground up tablets with liquid it should be administered as soon as reasonably possible.
